Zarushagar Subsector J: Imperial era data as of 001-1117 / "Hard Times" 300-1128 / New Era data as of 001-1200

Subsector Notes:

The Liasdi subsector population in 1119 was 12 billion. New Era census population is 5 billion, a reduction of roughly 55%. Schafer (1029), Rossak (1327), Mabel (1121), Beniamino (1525), and Bilton (1629) all show some population increase since the Collapse. The best starport (B-class) is at Rossak, which also has the best TL (11). Six worlds in the subsector boast a C-class port/yards, two of which were built by Rossak (Furness & Maximo).

Rossak (1327) has benefitted from the 2nd Long Night by the discovery of an Imperial Jumpstart cache by an exploratory mission in 1180 on Furness (1226). It also colonized the abandoned world of Maximo (1227) in 1190 and rehabilitated its abandoned naval base in the last decade. Their rapid 20 year expansion has brought many changes in the turbulent New Era, and they have yet to explore the rest of the systems about them. They painstakinging take great care to disassemble and reverse engineer relic imperial technology. Only the ability to build their own jump drives keeps their starport at B-class status.

Rossak is ethnically Solomani-Vilani with a minority of Darmine humaniti. The Rossak Union is the name of their PE.

Unduine (1428): Home port to three plucky families of Free traders: one of Scanian in descent, who found the world abandoned after the destruction of the naval base in 1120, another of Irish-Solomani descent, and their dependents. Unduine in Terran-Gaelic means "water spirit-horse". The descendants of the world's downport welcomed them, and form the crew of the third vessel.

The Scanian's maintain and crew a Wilds Trader (800dtn J2/3G) SS Orca. The Irish family, (the McCauley's) maintain and crew a stretched R-class Subsidized Liner 600dtns (J1x2/1G) SS Old Dun Cow. The third vessel is a Winoray class Corsair (800dtn J3/2G) ex-IFNS Ilshirek, manned by the latter day descendants of Dulinor's "raider" forces. All three vessels are streamlined and thus are capable of water wilderness refuelling.

The Free traders roam the subsector, into the Rossak Union polity, Beniamino, Spenserman, Bilton, into Wolf subsector towards Alcau, and the Duchy of Oasis. They have clashed with Telsin's Guild corsairs twice in the past two decades.

Beniamino (1525): Like Rossak except that they're doing it on their own. This world has rediscovered Jump technology through repairs and hard work. Recently they contacted the democratic world of Spenserman (1625) and have begun to conduct intestellar trade on a limited scale.

Beniamino has 36,000 personnel in its "spaceforce", with 12 large ships (only 4 are Jump-capable (J-1), and thirty-six smaller vessels (many are unarmed Subcraft from the Pre-collapse B-class port), of which 12 are Jump capable (J-1), armed merchants.

Telsin (1527): Another world with a C-class starport. Is port-of-call to a certain pair of Guild slaver ships. One is an EMMC Modified Stellar liner (with 2x Raptor class landers) J3/1G SGMS Pillaged Village. The second is a 440dtn Nishemani class Corsair Sword & Torch (J3/2G), with a Termagant class fighter grappled to it. Both ships are crewed by experienced NPCs. Captains considered Veteran NPCs. They are descended from Hard Times pirates, now turned to the Guild. Their dependents and Guild personnel run the starport, which is cleverly hidden in an iron rich former Imperial mine, several kms from the actual downport. Population may vary depending on how successful their raiding has been. They are wary of the Unduine Traders, and have clashed with them before with inconclusive results. They are watching the growing trade between Spensermann and Beniamino with extreme interest.

Mabel (1121): Has a sizeable space force (12,000), despite its population of 200,000. The "Fleet" pretty much runs the system. The government is a military-based constitutional monarchy and is quite popular with the populace. The current ruler is her royal majesty Bellasaris Serranya. Having suffered numerous vampire incursions, the system navy are veterans. The fleet should be considered veteran crews in system; experienced in outsystem.

Only half of Mabel's vessels are jump-capable. These being:

• 1 Nishemani P-class Corsair/freighter (440dton J3/2G, TL-12) HMS Moonshadow
• 1 Wilds Trader armed merchant (800dton, J3/2G, TL-12), HMS Enterprise
• 1 Stretched R-class Merchant, (600dtn, J2/2G, TL-11) HMS Virtus Ventura

There are also:

The Mabellians have only recently, in the past four years, cleared the last vampiric vestiges from the mining motherships and subcraft in the two asteroid belts in system. They have only tentatively explored trade with other worlds.
