Dhukhaegz Subsector: The Dhukhaegz Subsector has an
estimated population in 1202 of approximately 2.254 billion, a decline of 29%
from its Pre-Collapse population. Its highest population is 2.03 billion at
Aeztengnakh, and its highest tech level is 9 at Dhukhaegz. The Kunggnag
Subsector (its former name) had an estimated population in 1117 of
approximately 3.17 billion. Its highest population was 1.62 billion at Akhstuti
Ae, and its highest tech level was 14 at Akhstuti Ae.
Subsector Notes
Ilal (0136) is ruled by a draconian dictator whose regime is an agrarian
commune. The founder of the government, Gedzoe Raedsull, overthrew a military
regime in 1056 and instituted the current governmental structure which was
intended to liberate the people from the power of the planet's "cultured elite."
The Collapse and subsequent orbital attacks from Vampire fleets were hard on the
inhabitants of the world, whose primitive technology gave them no ability to
retaliate.
Aeztengnakh (0331) is governed by a monastic sect of the Church of the
Chosen Ones. Society on Aeztengnakh is uncharacteristically repressive for a
Vargr world, with extreme punishments for any kind of criminal activity. The
Aeztengnakhi monks preach that obedience to the will of the Church and fortitude
against the difficulties of the post-Collapse era will guide the world's
inhabitants to their destiny as rulers of the stars. The Aeztengnakhi Order
enforces its extreme laws by policing the people with the members of its warrior
cabal, whose skills at hand-to-hand and armed combat are second to none.
Before the collapse Dhukhaegz (0340), then known as Gzuga, was
home only to the residents of a small refueling facility. The facility survived
the Collapse in large part because of its submersible architecture, which
enabled its inhabitants to hide themselves from Vampire ship attacks. It is
believed that the system currently harbors a corsair base that uses the facility
to hide and maintain its starships. The Dhukhaegz corsairs raid the slowly
increasing trade activity in the subsector and have been known to run the RQS
blockade on occasion to raid shipping in the Regency frontier.
The inhabitants of Uerreug (0540) have been actively salvaging starship
drive parts and other technology from the planet's defunct naval base and
trading with merchants from neighboring Gvurrdon sector in an ambitious attempt
to reestablish themselves as an interstellar system. Uerreug was a non-aligned
system before the Collapse whose inhabitants were proud of the independent
course they followed. The Uerreugi have refurbished three free traders and have
been engaging in limited trade with Uyvighi (0439) for the past several
years.
