Ksokorae Subsector: The Ksokorae Subsector has an estimated population
in 1202 of approximately 910 million, a decrease of 93% from its Pre-Collapse
population. Oug Llou has the highest population (400 million) while Sosagal has
the highest tech level rating (A). The Saerrgh Subsector had an estimated
population in 1120 of approximately 14 billion. Its highest population was 7
billion at Saerrgh. Akstouggvi had the highest tech level (13).
Subsector Notes:
Rebellion Era:
The Baknae Alliance, although not really aggressive, has slowly pursued
an expansionistic course of the 150 years of its existence. It formed as the
result of a merger between the Baklurrgh Empire and the Naerrgh
Consulate. These two polities came to the mutual conclusion that the only
way to keep the Empire of Varroerth at bay was to join forces. It has
worked. A buffer zone of independent worlds exists between the Empire and the
Alliance, the bulk of which constitutes the Odzaeg
subsector. This buffer zone is slowly dwindling as both sides slowly annex
border worlds.
Locally, the Baknae Alliance is viewed as much of a threat as the Empire of
Varroerth. Alliance forces have clashed with forces from the Thoengling
Empire, the People of Wanz, and even the Democracy of Greats.
Kfok (1002) and Kfokh (1504) have caused quite a bit of confusion
for shipping companies. Typos and verbal miscues have led to cargo shipments
being misrouted. Each has argued that the other world should change its name.
Kfokh had the name first and feels that Kfok should change. Kfok was a member of
the Baknae Alliance before Kfokh and feels that Alliance membership should be
the determining factor. Neither world has enough people (85 at Kfokh & 317
at Kfok) to do anything more than bicker.
New Era:
Word of Virus reached this subsector before Virus itself did. It enabled most
worlds to make preparations. Some did. Others did not. Irregardless, Virus
eventually overwhelmed the subsector in the late 1140's.
The Kfok (1002) vs. Kfokh (1504) rivalry came to an end when
Virus showed up. Both worlds are inhospitable, with just a trace of atmosphere.
Each of the settlements were constructed underground. The Kfok settlement,
however, wasn't sufficiently protected from an orbital assault. The Kfokh
settlement, which was buried deeper and had more advanced structural
reinforcements, survived their bombardment. The starport was destroyed but the
inhabitants lived. In the subsequent decades they have come to completely rely
on their subterranean arboretum and hydroponics field for their air, food, and
water. Nothing is wasted. Everything is recycled. There's even been room for
growth (126 inhabitants by 1202), though this wasn't allowed until sufficient
calculations were made which proved that their hidden world could handle it.
No effort has been made to reach the surface since the attack. The Kfokhans
are waiting to be "discovered."
Ksokorae (1304) and Enagoek (1505) resumed trading with one
another 20 years ago. Each surveyed Kfokh from orbit and presumed it was dead.
5 years ago each mounted a survey expedition to try and find other moderately
damaged survivors in their vicinity. Enagoek has surveyed its Jump 1 neighbors
and Ksokorae has surveyed the Jump 1 cluster spinward of it. It was by chance
that the survey party from Enagoek found the Sosagal (1506) survivors.
The first facility on Sosagal, Aenorz Sosagal, was built
underwater to take advantage of the natural protection provided by the sea.
Later on, despite upgrades to Aenorz Sosagal, growth required the construction
of enclosed towns and cities on the land, despite the thin, tainted atmosphere.
Having had some advanced warning that a Vampire fleet was in-system, Sosagal
tried to prevent infection and prepare for bombardment. They managed to stave
off infection but the surface cities and towns were all destroyed or damaged
beyond repair. Aenorz Sosagal was overlooked. Eventually, all Vargr living on
the surface died. Only those dwelling in Aenorz Sosagal survived. To be safe,
the inhabitants of Aenorz Sosagal remained underwater unless an emergency
required them to return to the surface and look for spare parts. It was one of
these scavenger parties that, by chance, made contact
with a survey expedition from Enagoek in 1198.
