Dokh Subsector: The Dokh Subsector has an estimated population in 1202 of
approximately 2.5 billion, a decrease of 86% from its Pre-Collapse population.
Dokh has the highest population (2 billion) while Otson has the highest tech
level rating (8). The Dokh Subsector had an estimated population in 1120 of
approximately 18 billion. Its highest population was 10 billion at Llorznaelokh.
Aenagzdars and Aroegsukgnu had the highest tech level (13).
Subsector Notes:
Rebellion Era:
Baknae Alliance expansion spinward has come to a halt. The
Rranglloez Stronghold has refused to join the Alliance. It is entirely
possible that the Baknae Alliance will use force to convince them to join.
Alae (309) is the site of a Baknae Alliance sponsored corsair base.
There are no civilian facilities present. It is common for univited visitors
to be attacked on sight.
Raekhsva (509), although technically a water world, has many shallow
seas which provide useful foundations for the establishment of low-tech
artificial islands. These islands were constructed using local materials in
1050. Little technological progress has been made since then. Even the
starport remains of a "bare bones" nature though this may change. The native
sentient race, the dubbed Raekhsvans by the Vargr, have protested the aquatic
refueling tactics of various starships. Although subjugate to the Vargr, they
are allowed to govern themselves and, as such, can be considered the largest
nation on this balkanized world. The Raekhsvans are amphibious. Trade with
the Vargr has been mutually beneficial. Although they were only considered
tech level 2 when the Vargr first arrived, they have since acquired enough
knowledge from the Vargr to be treated as tech level 5.
Khoerin (510) is rumored to be the site of several lanthanum deposits.
A band of corsairs have been hired to protect the community from outside
aggressors. The corsairs receive a negotiated fee plus a small percent of the
profits made by the miners.
Ueksknoek (605) is an unusual industrial world. Chemical supply
companies have taken advantage of the planet's insidious atmosphere to
manufacture their bulk and specialty chemicals. All habitats and facilities
are underground, with the industrial facilities closest to the surface.
New Era:
Word of Virus reached this subsector before Virus itself did. It enabled most
worlds to make preparations. Some did. Others did not. Irregardless, Virus
eventually overwhelmed the subsector in the late 1140's.
Although the starships don't come to Raekhsva (509) anymore, the Vargr
and the native Raekhsvans continue on, business as usual. Virus took little
interest in this world besides demolishing the starport and capturing the few
starships present.
The great chemical manufacturing facilities at Ueksknoek (605) were
blasted apart by a Vampire Fleet attack. Billions died either from the intial
attack or from subsequent exposure to the planet's insidious atmosphere. By a
bizarre twist of fate, the mixing and reacting of the various chemicals with
each other, the infrastructure, and the surrounding rock has resulted in a
series of protective barriers and filter media. It is in the lowest levels that
about 2,000+ survivors eke out a meager existence. The new generation appears to
be coping with the conditions better than their predecessors. There is nothing
on the surface to indicate that these people exist so it is likely they will go
unnoticed for some time. Environmental conditions being what they are, it is
not likely that anyone will even consider looking for these people.
Dokh (607) was the subsector capital for the Baknae Alliance. Although
the Baknae Alliance eventually fell to invading Vampire Fleets, Dokh has
begun to recover. One-third of its 3 billion plus population died during the
dark years immediately after the victory of Virus. Although still balkanized,
the world's 34 nations do manage some form of cooperation. The industrial
complexes were rebuilt and the world has achieved a technological parity of 7.
Several of the larger nations have renewed their interest in space programs.
