Binary subsector is so named for its two remote solitary stellar systems astride the Great Rift.
Sarage (2938) was the site of an Imperial client state and research
station before the Collapse. While the system was cut off from the Domain of
Deneb, it has maintained its independent navy by virtue of long-haul
maintenance runs from ships in Tobia subsector and its own self-sufficient
research community. The primary focus of the research facility is to study the
Droyne culture on Auitawry. The Regency, believing Auitawry to be a crucial
strategic world, however, has continued to fund Sarage's diplomatic and
research efforts despite its non-aligned status.
Auitawry (3140), is considered a likely candidate for the homeworld of
Yaskoydray, the legendary leader of the Ancients. The civilization on Auitawry
is the most advanced post-Collapse Droyne culture. The world was interdicted by
the Imperium in pre-Rebellion times and the only outside contact with the world
in the last 200 years has been from neighboring Sarage.
Pre-Collapse archaeological findings at Ancients sites around the Imperium
began to show indications that a second advanced civilization might have
existed along with the Ancients. Auitawry is believed to be a possible link in
this mystery.
