Darrurz isn't too terribly impressed by Lakir's line of inquiry with the bartender. For someone whose background was gathering intelligence, he doesn't seem to be picking up the obvious warning the barkeep is giving them.

And that warning is: "You're not welcome here."

Maybe Darrurz gets it because, as Lakir pointed out, "most these folks seem to be more your type." Where did this pinkie learn how to speak Galanglic?

While Lakir was drilling the bartender, Darrurz and Chuck were scanning the crowd. Darrurz doesn't know if Chuck picked it up, but Darrurz could certainly pick up the telltale signs of animosity from the vargr in the room. The group certainly isn't welcome here and Darrurz suspects that it's because they're not Khalidurton personnel. Khalidurton is fiercely territorial after all. And in this part of space, if you're a mixed crew that aren't part of the pack, then you're Touzagh. And that's not good.

Darrurz decides to smooth over ruffled fur by approaching a vargr at the end of the bar that didn't look like he wanted to rip his throat out.

Darrurz goes up to the Vargr at the end of the bar and asks in Gvegh, "You wouldn't know whether Khalidurton is hiring subcontractors at the moment would you? Or who I might ask to find out if they are?"

He sniffs the air for the other's scent and gauges their relative Charismas.

The other vargr does likewise. He gives the impression that the two are almost equals, with the other slightly higher in charisma than Darrurz.

"Yes, they are. But this certainly isn't the place to fill out an application." He chuckles. With a nod towards the rest of the place, he adds, "Until you're on the team, you shouldn't come sniffing around here. Someone might mistake you for a rival or a raider and nip your tail."

Darrurz looks around the place following the other vargr's gaze. "I understand Khalidurton is a little territorial, but I didn't think things were as hard and fast as that. Still it makes sense in present times."

The other vargr nods. "It is that hard and fast. If you're not part of the pack, you're perceived as a threat."

Darrurz continues, "I asked about work with Khalidurton at the starport and they pointed me here, and you can never gauge what's on the wind if you walk up to the gate so I thought I'd come here to smell the ghuurrak, so to speak."

"Well whoever told you to come here is a damned fool. If you want to work for Khalidurton, you go through the netsite or stop by their office and fill out an application." He gestures to the room. "This place is for those who've already been brought on board."

"Well I certainly didn't come here to put anyone's hair up. Just wanted to find out what was happening in system to gauge whether to sign up as a subcontractor or not. We certainly won't be running in competition."

The other vargr lets loose a toothy grin. "That's good to hear. Talk to Voughngoeng in Personnel. She'll be able to expedite your paperwork and have you set up in no time. In the meantime, I'll pass the word that your presence here was just a misunderstanding."

Darrurz recognizes that this vargr is politely indicating that their conversation is at an end.

Darrurz says, "Thanks, maybe I'll see you around." Offering his paw he says "I'm Darrurz." expecting the other to respond with his name.

The other vargr grabs Darrurz's paw firmly. "Well met, Darrurz. I'm Kfaerrgngag. Good hunting."

Darrurz returns to the others.
